Dear Friends, our visit was aimed to involve parents of students and local community in the life of school. About one hundred parents came to our programme, a number almost incredible, as we invited only parents from Class 6, 7 and 8. So parents took control of the school, at least for one day! Our meeting have been summarized in a document, that shows topics discussed.
The meeting has been characterized by the presence of MANY women. And this, as school teachers said, was a real success. Women who actively partecipated with useful criticism (some teachers do not work well) and proposals (they would like an english teacher with textbooks in english). The document prepared has been printed, copied and spread in the area and today you might find it on the walls of many houses and small shops. Moreover we distributed it to the students of secondary school, who have been asked to bring it at home, and read it to their parents as sometimes, they are not able to read.

We considered the two above mentioned remarks by women very important because:
a) we believe it is right local people start thinking that they can do something to improve the quality of the school (it seems to be obvious, but here, it is not);
b) it is important they understand they can actively act through proposals and hints to teachers and school (about the english teacher we are thinking to achieve it (to pay an english teacher for primary school we need about E1700, more or less E150 per month...we will see...next school year will start on April 24.

Provide new teachers is important, to improve the quality of teaching staff, abova all if coming from Kathmandu. Provide a new teacher is possible, bringing new ideas and a new enthusiasm. To pay a secondary school teacher we need more or less E2500, about E200 per month and in Bhalaya danda school now it is lacking a science teacher.
