A SCHOOL BUILDING IN NEPAL
Our association was founded with the aim of building a new school in a village of Nepal providing 6 new classrooms for the children. There are 4 reasons for this project:
1) The present building is too small for the school students and it can’t ensure them to attend all the classes (there are 10), but only until the 8th degree. Today pupils leave school after the 8th degree because the closest village with a school is several hours walk away.
2) The present school is very old and fittings and fixtures are crumbling.
3) In the nearby countryside people lost confidence and awareness of the importance of education; so they prefer to keep their children working with them. We believe that a new working structure can give them hope and confidence in the importance and utility of education.
4) They need a bigger structure because pupils come from far away even if they know they can’t finish school.
Our project is supported by Ev-K2-CNR Committee which one of us worked for, and by the University of Milano. Moreover it is participated by the local NGO called Langtang Foundation Uttergaya Society cooperating to our project.
Ev-K2-CNR provides us his staff in Kathmandu developing our project in Nepal; the Biology Department of University of Milan gives us supplies and transportation.
All the activities of Nepal Project are directed by Sundari Baini Onlus according to the mentioned institutes.
